Hello

I had a Moodle-site hosted with Siteground and with Arvixe and both gave me the same problem : when the students from several classes ( - about 40 in total -) were going to connect simultaneously in our computer-class from the same IP, the site went down or became really unusable slow.

Siteground said that, due to the intrusion detection system they have implemented, it detected the simultaneous access as an attack and therefore blocked the IP. On Arvixe the resources of my site were severely restricted in that case.

With this restrictions one cannot use Moodle in a classical situation from the school computerroom.
  • Will I have the same problem with EZPZ ?
  • Second question : What is the memory usage limit of your PHP ?

Best regards

Hi Luuk,

1) Sounds like a mod security rule they used if the page hangs and it thinks its being attacked. EZPZ uses litespeed servers instead of Apache so you should have a faster website from the word get-go. You also have access to remove banned IP's from your control panel interface incase your friends IP's get blocked (from a reseller account, not sure about shared). A website shouldn't generally ban people if 40 people accessed it, if so Google would be out of business. Sounds like Siteground has got it's detection rate too high - IMHO.

2) I have access to srv2 and us7 and the memory limit usage is set to 64M by default but this can be changed with a little knowledge. - Wont post here incase it gets abused.

In the end, you won't know till you try. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee incase it doesn't work. But from my experience here they offer robust servers with great support - so I would recommend these guys.

Look at this link - they specialise in moodle hosting - http://www.ezpzhosti...le-hosting.html

P.S. I don't work for EZPZ, so wait for a reply from them if you wish as they will know allot more than I.

If you need help, just ask.
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
Have I helped? Then vote my post up on the right! --->

Hi Luuk,

Looks like ZealHost had this one covered but I can confirm having 40 visitors from the same IP address wouldn't cause a problem.
